Polar Vortex

January 30, 2019 by dspolo

When cool thing happen in Chicago there are always people who are there to witness it.   Today, the low temperature was something like -24 and the high only ended up being something like -14.  The Lake temperature is very warm in comparison since until recently it had been a warm winter with no Lake ice.  So when that happens the relatively warm water vaporizes in the cold air.  And the people of Chicago go out to see it, even in the bitter cold.  There were dozens of people and cars at Montrose point including me.
